Edo State Oil Palm Programme Launches Manpower Development Scheme, calls for applicants

The Edo State Government, through the Edo State Oil Palm Programme (ESOPP), has called for applicants for its new Manpower Development Scheme. This initiative aims to cultivate a skilled workforce for the state’s growing oil palm plantation sector.

The program is a collaborative effort between ESOPP, oil palm producers in the state, and the Edo State College of Agriculture and Natural Sciences.  

“We are seeking individuals with a passion for sustainable agriculture,” stated Churchill Oboh, Acting Team Lead for ESOPP. “This scheme provides training for those aspiring to become experts in this field.”

The Edo State Oil Palm Programme, in partnership with oil palm producers and the college, offers a unique opportunity to participate in the Manpower Development Scheme. The program includes comprehensive training, practical experience, and job placement for the role of Junior Plantation Operative.

As outlined by Mr. Monday Owie, Acting Registrar of the Edo State College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, applicants must possess a minimum qualification of a Senior Secondary School Certificate with at least four credits, including English Language and Mathematics. Prior experience in oil palm plantation is beneficial. Additionally, candidates should be physically fit and not exceed 35 years of age.
