Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has announced that his administration’s intervention on the Benin-Iruekpen Federal Government road has drastically cut down travel time to just 45 minutes.

The governor, who recently journeyed along the route, expressed immense satisfaction with the results of the project, highlighting the positive impact on commuters.

Clearly impressed by the outcome, Governor Okpebholo noted that the improved road has significantly shortened travel time between Benin City and Iruekpen in Esan West Local Government Area.

“Before now, people could spend days navigating this road to get to Iruekpen, but today, the journey takes just 45 minutes. The road is now smooth and far more accessible,” he stated.

He credited the success of the project to Edo State’s alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Edo State is witnessing substantial infrastructural transformation because we keyed into President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. His commitment to the people of Edo has brought visible dividends of democracy through effective governance,” the governor explained.

Governor Okpebholo emphasized that his administration is focused on delivering practical governance and tangible development.

“My government is committed to practical governance that people can see, feel, and experience. With this project completed, Edo State will continue to benefit from enhanced infrastructure and the rewards of purposeful leadership,” he said.

He expressed deep gratitude to the people of Edo State for their continued support and trust, assuring them of more developmental projects across all senatorial zones.

“My strength comes from the people—they are the reason I am privileged to serve as governor. Their trust fuels my dedication,” he added.

Reiterating his commitment to public service, he said, “I sought this office with a clear vision—to serve the people of Edo. That mission remains unchanged. My priority is to develop every part of the state and ensure the welfare of our citizens.”

Speaking on the impact of the road project, Engr. Bajwa Mohd, representative of the construction company, confirmed a marked improvement in travel for road users.

“The road is much smoother now, and the travel time from Benin City to Ekpoma has been greatly reduced. Commuters are having a better experience overall,” he noted.

Governor Okpebholo’s administration continues to pursue a robust infrastructure agenda, and the transformation of the Benin/Ekpoma/Auchi road stands as a strong testament to the state government’s commitment to progress. Residents can now anticipate a safer, faster, and more convenient travel experience.
