The governor of Edo State Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Tuesday met with the leaders and members of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State to discuss a strategy that will help the party win the upcoming general elections.
Speaking at the strategy meeting in Benin City, Obaseki declared that the nation is at a turning point and urged party members to make the necessary sacrifices and work tirelessly to ensure the party’s victory in the upcoming elections in order to help the country overcome its numerous socioeconomic problems.
He stated, “There is a clear and present danger facing Nigeria as a country, but as a party, we have the instrument and means to rescue Nigeria and right the error and suffering that the people of this nation are currently experiencing.”
“The PDP was created by the founding members of our party as a core reform party that is always in a position to save the nation. In 1999, the PDP as a party saved Nigeria from a comparable predicament.
“The only organized party that can preserve our nation is the PDP. PDP has a divine duty to rescue and recover Nigeria from corrupt leadership. For our nation to be reclaimed, we need all be prepared to make sacrifices.
Obaseki added, “We will keep talking to our people from the unit, ward, and local government levels, both party members and non-party members alike, and make sure we come together to win the election.
“The elections are in 19 days. In what ways are we prepared for this election? As a party, we have a compelling tale to share because Nigerians are not deaf and have never endured such hardship. These guys bring about a lot of issues. In the midst of rising food prices, there is no cash and no fuel. The next three weeks or so will mark the end of these difficulties.
To oversee the units, a Ward Election Management Committee (WEMC) ought to be established. We have plans, and they will undoubtedly result in victory. Due to the importance of the Vice-President position to us, we have a stake in this election. Okowa, who will serve as Vice-President, will head the economic team, and I will be the team’s senior governor.
In order to win the election in the State and across the nation, the governor continued, “We will continue to appeal to our people and reach out to them. We will keep testing our electoral system starting the following week. We live in a digital age. Victory is assured since we have already made plans for it and nothing happens by accident. Elections are won before the election day, not on election day.
According to Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu, the Deputy Governor of Edo State, “Nigeria is in our own hands as PDP stands strategically to win this election.” Edo must participate in winning the election because it would provide the opportunity to recognize the state.
“I challenge us to begin talking to every member of our community, as I have been doing so myself all along the way to the Supreme Court. I have faith that some of them will start speaking out shortly.
