The governor of Edo State, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has stated that his administration will continue reforms and programs aimed at enhancing peoples’ standard of living and welfare.
Speaking to journalists in Benin City, Obaseki stated that his administration is dedicated to guaranteeing the state’s economic success, industrial expansion, job opportunities, and infrastructure development.
He stated, “We plan to do more schools, more roads, and strengthen the educational structure.”
The governor stated, “I think we should look at the evidence and look at what is on the ground in terms of the economy. We should look at what the government has accomplished across all areas of the state’s economy. We increased our Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) to around N41 billion for the year 2022. We anticipate it to reach N60 billion the following year.
“We have been able to make close to N3.5 billion per month. We have increased the resources available for the government to carry out additional infrastructure projects by combining what we receive from Abuja with efforts to stop all waste and lessen corruption in the system.
“In terms of the economy, You can see that the government is able to provide more services to the people. We are able to give people what they need. People. Yes, we haven’t been able to finish all the roads, but at least we’ve been able to build more roads, link more towns, and provide pathways that will make it easier for people to do business.
We were able to make investments in fiber technology and other facilities. We’ve been able to digitalize governance and raise the standard of government services. Governance is being made simpler. We are bringing the people and the government together. We are improving its openness, transparency, and public accountability.
