The Edo State Government, on Thursday, commenced a three-day onboarding programme for newly sworn-in Permanent Secretaries and Commissioners, to equip them with relevant information and knowledge to contribute effectively towards the realization of the government’s Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) Agenda.
The programme, which is being held at the John-Odigie Oyegun Training Institute, in Benin City, was declared open by the Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Comr. Philip Shaibu.
Shaibu, who called for the collaboration and support of all stakeholders to achieve a better and more progressive Edo, stated that ongoing programmes and policies by the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led administration are aimed at improving the livelihood of the people and ensuring economic prosperity for the state.
According to him, “The vision to reposition the state started a long time ago and the Obaseki-led administration has taken it to a higher level. We have a vision that will outlive us. We have a 30-year development plan and you are the ones that will assist us in achieving this plan as well as the MEGA Agenda of Governor Obaseki.”
He charged the participants to take the programme seriously and utilise the knowledge acquired to effectively contribute to the development of the State.
Shaibu added, “You are the new face of Edo State Government and everyone needs to collaborate and connect to the vision which will be unveiled to you today, and together build a strong state which is the dream of all Edo State citizens.”
On his part, Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie Esq., who spoke on the roles of Permanent Secretaries and Commissioners in the delivery of the dividends of democracy to the people, noted, “The primary responsibility of government is to provide security and protect the lives of the people of the state. The governor can’t achieve this alone without the support of some of his subordinates including Permanent Secretaries and Commissioners that will assist him in fulfilling his roles and duty to the people.”
