
The First Lady of Edo State Her Excellency Betsy Obaseki is advocating education as panacea to Gender Based Violence in Nigeria.
The Edo First Lady made this remark while participating in the panel discussion during the Nigerian Governors Wives Against Gender Based Violence 1st annual conference which held at the Transcorp Hotel in Abuja FCT on Wednesday.
Her Excellency noted that in her handling of Gender Based Violence cases in Edo State, she has observed that most victims became a target because they were vulnerable.
The Edo First Lady said education in every respect is necessary whether formal education or informal, in the form of skill acquisition noting that education and empowerment remains two vital measures that is effective both as a preventive measure and one that ensures that victims get justice.
The Edo State First Lady was featured in the panel due to her work with victims of Gender Based Violence at the Betsy Angels Shelter, the Edo Youth Academy, the passage of the VAPP Law and the opening of the Sex Offenders register in Edo State among others.
