The All Progressive Congress candidate representing Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency on Thursday 28th February reject result announced by Inec for Egor and Ikpoba okha Local government area of Edo state.
In a press briefing held at his residence, He revealed the result given by Inec was Negated. In his statement he said:
I humbly wish to thank the good people of Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal constituency who came out in their thousand to perform their civic responsibilities at the pool on the 23rd of February, 2019. May I also thank you all for casting for your vote for our great party, the All Progressive Congress (APC). I sincerely thank you all for the tremendous support and vote accorded to me at the election.
The re-election of President Muhamandu Buhari is a testimony of the virtue of integrity, honesty and selfless commitment to the service of our dear country Nigeria.
May I, join millions of Nigeria and friend of our dear country to congratulate Mr president, Our national chairman comrade Adams Aliu Oshiomole, the governor of Edo state, Godwin Obaseki, the Leadership of our party at the state and local government level. The re-election of President Muhamadu Buhari is a collective victory to all Nigeria and a demonstration of the confidence we have in President Buhari taking Nigeria to the next level of progress, greatness, and prosperity.
You may recall the event that characterize the conduct of the election for Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency and the subsequent announcement of the result by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)
Following the reports of our party, Stakeholders and Independent Observers at various polling unit and collation Centers across the Ward in Egor and Ikpoba okha L.G.A respectively, It is established that there was a flagrant violations of the provision of the Electoral Act.
Furthermore, at the behest of the Electoral Officers in the two local government, certain provision of the Electoral Act and certain provision of the INEC guidelines for the conduct of the election were grossly violated.
We have it on good authority that in several Ward Collation Centre, the result were not collated and announced at the Unit and Ward L.G.A Collating Centre, which is contrary to the provision of section 27 1(a) and (b) of the Electoral Act as amended.
In various Wards of Egor and Ikpoba Okha L.G.A the Supervisory Presidency Officers (SPOs) and the Electoral Officers disappeared with unsigned result only to appear after long hours with the results still unsigned which negate the result announced. There are cases of malpractice, manipulation of result by INEC staff and intimidation by some security agents at various Unit.
It is clear from experience reports that majority of INEC officials were compromised.
Consequently, I hereby reject the result announced by INEC of the February 23rd ,2019, Election for Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal constituency and will be challenging it in court.
